2016 Maria Prymachenko,Ukrainian Naive art,folk,Ukrainian artist,Monograph,book

Catalog of Maria Prymachenko’s exhibition held at the Art Arsenal in 2016. The retrospective exhibition presented the artist’s work as a counterbalance to the Soviet reality, which leveled the personality and was supposed to unify both ordinary life and the worldview of every citizen. Under the conditions when art was transformed into a means of propaganda and education of the “new man”, the artistic phenomenon of Maria Prymachenko still remains an incomprehensible mystery for us. The exhibition exhibited works created in different periods of the artist’s creativity: it is an opportunity to trace changes in technique and manner, to emphasize the distinct alternativeness of the creative method.
